After almost a year and a half of construction our Education Centre at last is born! We are delighted and so are the children!
The Centre opens officially in two weeks but the first children are already inaugurated!
It was a long and laborious construction. In the year and a half we have had to overcome many difficulties. But, there we are, Our “EDM Baan Din” (Clay House in Thai) is ready.
In the first phase, the Centre will accommodate the children from three local schools for two hours daily. Our approach will be very different from school since it is the children who will choose what they want to learn! There will be available to them a multitude of books, educational toys and computers.
When the school re-opened last Monday, we organised a “trial” day with 40 children and teachers for a first visit. The children were very enthusiastic and rushed towards the first books we provided.
We even had a surprise in the evening to see two children return with their father to let him discover our centre.
We expect to multiply the activities and notably to open the Centre after school and at the weekends so that the village children come there to do their homework.
Here are the photos of the Centre on that first day.
