It’s a well-known fact that the local tourists dash to Chiang Mai at the end of the year in search of the cool. Equally, for them, it’s an occasion to dress themselves in nice clothes dug out from their last shopping expedition.
At Doï Wawee, for the orphan and stateless children, the reality is quite different. They don’t talk about “the cool” but rather “the cold”. During the night, the temperature can drop to 5°. And, quite differently from our situation, these children and young people from 4 to 14 years have not got enough warm clothing or blankets. It’s an irony of fate, indeed, as, for them, it’s a vital need.
It‘s in this spirit that EDM launched in October a collection for warm clothes and blankets. With the precious help of Laurent Rivaud who has allowed our association to use “Vivienne Westwood Thailand as the main collection point, we have received clothes, shoes and blankets, new and second-hand, and we have taken them to the orphanages of Baan Mana and Abu Ali before the cold gets there.
A big “thank you” is also sent to Nune Brepson, a volunteer in the initiative of this project et Bess, an employee of Vivienne Westwood, who was the main contact person for this collection.
EDM must give thanks from the bottom of the heart for the parcels and packets from Chiang Mai but also Phuket.
We hope once again to receive your support next year 🙂
